Neighbourhood Trust Annual Events

The Trust seeks to serve its community by providing low cost or no cost activities that will provide an environment where community can be built.

Fireworks Family Extravaganza

This event runs from 5.30pm on the 5th November - Guy Fawkes night. Starts with food and fun activities for the children, then fireworks are let off in a fenced off area after dark (around 8.45pm). Donations are welcomed to help defray costs. Thanks to Shirley/Papanui Community Board for their support of this event.

Mairehau Community Family Fun Day

FREE activities and entertainment for the children coming again in March 2012.  An opportunity for agencies and groups operating in Mairehau to let people know what services they have to offer. Over 1,000 people came to the recent Mairehau Community Day at Mairehau High School Hall. There were lots of fun things to do and a beautiful, sunny day. Thank you Shirley/Papanui Community Board for supporting this event.

Christmas Hampers

Food parcels are delivered to families and businesses in the community from goods donated by members of St Albans Baptist Church.

Christmas Eve Community Celebration

This is held in the St Albans Baptist Church lounge with the meal commencing at 5.00pm. Yummy Christmas fare in a relaxed environment where anybody who wants to join us is very welcome, but please contact us on 355 6522 to book in. A special, creative Christmas carol service follows at 7pm. Why not start a new Christmas tradition and come along?

Seeking to Serve

A quote used by Trust workers is “people do matter”. It is a statement that encourages us to provide services of practical assistance.

Advocacy

People are available to assist others when they do not feel confident or when they are a little wary of the people they are dealing with.  A little positive support can go a long way for others to receive what is theirs to claim.

Food Parcels

These are provided through 0800 Hungry.

The Trust also provides visitation to three retirement homes and monthly church services to these homes.
