Welcome to Neighbourhood Trust
TRUST MOTO:
"Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day. Teach him to fish, and he will eat for life."

About the Trust

The Neighbourhood Trust (NHT) was established in 1999 by the people of St Albans Baptist Church (SABC) to enrich the lives of the immediate community and further afield. Most of the Trust programmes are based at SABC or at venues in the surrounding area.

NHT works mainly with families and the elderly, providing a wide range of activities and services focussed on empowering and strengthening the community.  The Trust offers a hand-up, not a hand-out.

NHT is governed by a Board with Hugh Swaney (Chairman), Graham Collinswood (Secretary), Alan Bastin (Acting Treasurer), Kaye Hills, John Alpe, Tim Burton and Toni Lindo as Trustees.

Co-ordinating staff are Tony Marsh (Community Work), Allison Alexander (Community Children's Work) and Ginny Larsen (New Projects).

Each of the After-School programmes have a Supervisor and Assistant and a large number of volunteers lead and support each ministry area.

The Trust receives encouragement and financial support from the Shirley/Papanui Community Board, Christchurch City Council, Ministry of Social Development, Canterbury Community Trust, NZ Lotteries, The Southern Trust, COGS, St Albans Baptist Church, Pub Charity, Eureka Trust, the Boulcott Fund, the Perry Foundationand the The Mainland Foundation and Mairehau High School Adult Education.  We also receive support from the generosity of businesses like Brumbys, Edgeware, Veges Direct, McGrafix.com and Reach Out Press.
