Ante natal Courses

In 2008, the Trust began facilitating a series of FREE four-week ante-natal courses in the Mairehau/St Albans area. The tutor is Tiffany Hamilton, who has worked in women's health for over ten years and currently works in ante-natal and post-natal care at Christchurch Women's and St George's Hospitals. New Parents Group

This group is aimed at parents of children in the under 2 age group. It meets a couple of times a month on Fridays from 10.30am-12noon. The sessions start with a chat and light brunch is provided, then often has a guest to speak on a particular subject or special focus. The group meets in the church lounge at St Albans Baptist Church, 64 McFaddens Road (carpark entrance on Redwood Place).

Parenting Teens course

This six-week Toolbox course is designed to equip and help you through parenting the teenage years.   These years can be pretty rough and it can be difficult to know how to deal with some of the increased stresses and changes. The course gives you new skills and strategies and lets you know you are not alone.

The next course is due to start on Monday 19th July at 7.30pm. Neighbourhood Trust is offering a subsidised price for this course courtesy of the Community Response Fund, so be in quickly to secure a place - only $25 per person; $40 a couple.

Computer upskilling

Thanks to the Community Response Fund, there is now an opportunity to have tuition in computer skills. This is aimed anyone who has been made redundant and would like to gain new skills to help in re-entry to the workforce.  One-to-one tutoring at our centre or in your own home. FREE Nurse Health Check 

Neighbourhood Trust now offers a free Nurse Health Check Clinic every Wednesday usually mornings, 9am-12 midday, (except 28th July, 8th Sept, 20th Oct and 1st Dec, when clinics will be held from 1-4pm) from the premises of St Albans Baptist Church, 64 McFaddens Road.  The service will be operated by a registered nurse, who will do blood pressure and blood sugar tests, and general health checks.  No medicines on-site.  This is a check-up clinic available to all ages and if needed, you will be referred on to a  GP.

Upskill in reading, spelling and maths

 If you are 16 - 24 years of age and would like some help in reading, spelling and/or maths, give us a call. Thanks to the Ministry of Youth Development, we are now able to assist in tutoring using Successmaker NZ software.  It's a fun, easy to use programme that will get you on the path to success and open new doors for you. 

The learning can happen at our homebase at St Albans Baptist Church, at Shirley Early Years Hub or at your place.  Perfect for if you are at home with a preschooler and want to upskill for further learning or returning to the workforce.

One hour sessions, one or two times per week.  Work at your own pace; set your own goals. Computer based, tutor assisted learning.
