Holiday ProgrammesTHANK YOU Whale Watch – Kaikoura, who donated seats on one of their Whale watch trips (approx. 2 hour trip) & paid for half the transport costs. A gift to the children of Christchurch after the recent earthquakes. 39 children & 6 adults went on the trip – some from each holiday programme – BIG Kids, Hammersley Park & Glenmoor (6 of these children have had their homes red zoned.) We saw 2 whales, hector dolphins & seals. Lots of photo opportunities. Everyone had a wonderful time. Neighbourhood Trust runs holiday programmes for two weeks of each school holidays. The first week two programmes run, one based at Hammersley Park School, Quinns Rd, Shirley and the other at Glenmoor Primary School, 96 Philpotts Road, Mairehau. The second week the programmes run from Glenmoor Primary School and Northcote Primary School, Tuckers Road. During the Christmas/Summer holidays, the holiday programmes run in the two weeks before school restarts for Term 1. All programmes are Child Youth and Family approved and WINZ subsidies apply for those parents who qualify. The Programme at Glenmoor School was part of the Ministry of Social Development's pilot programme, Extended Services, and retains some extra features, offering children a more varied range of options. Big Kids Programme runs in the first week of the two weeks. Great activities just for the 11-14 year olds.
Discounts are available for two or more children from one family, in full-time care, who are not entitled to other subsidies. These programmes fill quickly, so contact Allison for an enrolment form.
